I Heard Beating At the Door
Don’t laugh at me. Last night I was up late, I stayed up waiting on a friend to call. She did not end up calling. I was still awake anyways. It rained really hard last night and then the wind picked up.
I thought I heard someone on a skateboard outside. Obviously my son rides the skateboard too much for me to think that. I chalked it up to the wind.
About an hour later, I heard loud thumping on the front door. I jumped up off the sofa, startled, and grabbed by phone, running into the bedroom. I woke Tommie up. He was still drowsy and went to the front door to look out the peep hole. He did not see anything. He went to get a bat, our weapon of choice. We don’t believe guns should be in a home with kids. Tommie also rapped a flashlight. While he went to get his “tools” I watched out the peep hole I was still scared out of my mind.
Tommie came back and opened the front door. I could only envision someone jumping out at him. As he slowly opened the door we did not see anyone there. We looked down and there it was,

the umbrella. We had went to eat earlier and left the umbrella by the door. The wind was so hard it blew the umbrella up against the door.
So the umbrella scared the crap out of me. I knew at that time, I needed to just go to bed.
